Pretty much there now with my CYB project shopping after finding quite a lot of a NOS Honda 5-speed gearbox in Australia.........

Graham thanks for a recent value, I was kind of thinking it was 1k. Amazing what's still out there, NOS 5sp.......WOW!

There are a pair of NOS tank panels in the pile with a receipt on one from 1982. This fellow was a Honda employee as he had to sign the receipt stating he was past his probation period and the parts were for his own use, one panel................$11.19

Look how cheaply built this later production replacement fork ear is made.

Dick

There have been plenty of people trying to sell CYB seats for $2000+ but I'm not sure if they ever actually sell. I heard once that there was a pile of NOS ones in Holland (not CMS) and I suspect that's where mine came from. The guy I bought mine from had two of them.

As for the 5-speed tranmission, I know that they are fragile but it's nice to have some of the parts. After all, it took me 3+ years to find both halves of a CYB camshaft. Once you stop looking, the stuff just seems to fall out of the trees. I'm really envious of your situation in Oregon. It looks like people held on to good stuff.

I'd be really happy to pay $12 for those panels..... :-)

I now have a pair of DID flanged alloy rims for my project. The front has the genuine C3YB marking and the rear is a NOS undrilled DID. All I need now is to select an engine and frame to put all of these parts on....

G
Graham,

I'd have to agree, asking price and sold price are two different things for sure. 15 yrs ago I gave $250 for one.

You are spot on with when you stop looking things do fallout of trees. I learned a long time ago, patience, it has paid off very well. I've also learned if it's the last part you need to finish your project you sometimes must step up to the plate.

Lots of Honda's sold here in the '60's, lots of dealers and St Johns Honda maintained a very large parts inventory for years. For $12 a panel you'd probably flyover and pick them up in person! Sorry, that NOS tank I've had for years will be the receiver of those panels along with one of the nos petcocks. I'll have to look for a nos gas cap.

You'll have that project ready to go in short order, probably right after the '61 is finished.............

I ended up recouping all the $$ spend on Superhawk in a box. Today I took a good look at the "rebuilt engine" that came with this deal. Too many of these deals throughout the years, I don't trust someone else's work that I don't know. This fellow I confirmed did work for Honda (34 yrs)and was tech teacher at the training center. I've found misc receipts for parts dated in the early '80's. Well this is one of the nicest, cleanest, engines I've seen and it's full of nos parts. Top end was not assembled and I didn't get cams with it but I have nos cams and rockers and now they will have a home. I pulled the clutch cover, most all looks new. I pulled the pressure plate off the clutch, all new. Trans shaft is shallow spline, the engine is a '65 and wouldn't have had this so I decided to go no further, I'm going to assume the trans has been gone through too. What I can see of it looks great. This engine will end up in my '66 at some point. The '66 has 20K on it and still runs fine so I'm not in a hurry.
