Hopefully the obstructions you removed will do the trick.
Good luck

G, i bought the bike from a PO that had at least 20 other 60's era bike lying around in his big shed. Id like to think my bike was his quick sale; and before he sold it, went into the motor, fixed some stuff, sealed it up with A LOT of gasket maker, and the gasket maker ended up forming that crescent-shaped object that i found on the inside.

G, I've stuck it on my garage wall as a reminder to not use too much gasket maker.
Its name is Fred.

I was supposed to post an update this afternoon with mating the cases, however, my dried piston pin is seized and won't allow me to remove the outer circlip. I've tried propane torch, and force with no luck. I'll try a little longer before I decide to take it to a
Machine shop to get it pressed out. I really hope the connecting rod will be ok afterward.

Cleaned the scored connecting rod as best I could with a sanding wheel on a Dremel, without removing too much material and comparing the movement with the good rod the wrist pin slides the same. Going to clean the sanding job with a few rotations of 1000 grit sand paper.
If you've done this before and ended up with a blown motor, please speak now...
