slides

Post by naptown68superhawk » Mon Jul 11, 2011 12:17 pm

the slides were not closing all the way. the idle screws were in to far. not letting the slides bottom out. it made all the diffrence in the world. i thaught they were bottoming out, but it was the slides coming into contact with the screw. and further more i still get some bogging out when im at about 45-50 mph.

Thanks for posting the solution! Keep on it, and it'll run like a Dream!

Post by naptown68superhawk » Tue Jul 12, 2011 2:16 pm

alright i have a timing issue(i think) its running good but not perfect. i runs strong up to about 5000 rpms and boggs out. i did ed moores timing trick and i got the same results. what ive read and seen from one other 305 it should want to go to damn near 9000 rpms with wanting to give up. Doea anybody know what ive missed. or did wrong. i moved up the needles from 2 to 1 so intheory it should have leaned it out more. but it bogs down like its righ, even tho it dosent smell righ. thats what made me think its timing. any suggestions?????i was thinking aboiut dropping down to the 3rd notch just to see if that made any diffence.....

What size and brand are the main jets? Raising the needle, by lowering the clip, makes it richer. Are you at elevation? It should really come alive at 5K rpm, and pull harder thaqn at lower revs.

Sounds like it is starving for fuel at higher rpm. When it starts bogging down reach down on the choke lever and choke it a bit- if it perks up you're not getting enough fuel. Do what Davo says on the jets. Let us know what you find.

main jets

Post by naptown68superhawk » Tue Jul 12, 2011 8:40 pm

the jets i got are from the keyster carb ket online. ive heard some bad things about them. i live and ride in indianapolis indiana, not too elevated, not like im in denver or anything.

so i drop the clip to the 3rd mark like i said i was gonna try, i got the same result. putts out at 4500 rpms.. could it be the needles.. i still have the stock ones mabey i can put them in tomorrow.

o yeah also i did the ed moore timing solution again. didnt really seem to make a diffrence, soo im not sure its timing anymore. any input?

thanks from indianapolis.

As I already inputed in the previous post before yours, read what I had to say about the choke. You didn't say if you tried it. Reach down and slowly start closing it off and see if it helps the bogging.
