Many good motorcycle (and auto) dealerships have a machine that they produce their own gaskets with, using a computer program. They have different thickness gasket material in sheets for this, so that could be a possible source. Also, a REAL auto parts store will have gasket material available in bulk sheets, and hopefully they may have something in the thickness you need. Another possibility would be going to an industrial machine supply shop, and see if they have any plastic shim stock in the proper thickness. That can get expensive if they try to sell you a whole sheet, but it's worth a try. Just make sure that the material you use is relatively water and solvent-proof. Regards, Chase

I was thinking about this today. I don't think it's a gasket or insulator. The paper reminds me of the stuff they wrap bare metal parts in to resist corrosion. Maybe this is what it's for? Just a guess.
