John,
I'm a little confused on what you are asking for with the info you have given. You start off saying you have a CB with a CL engine and later you give a Engine # of a CA. The CA's as far as I know are all 360 degree and do not have a tach drive off the left side of the cam and have one carb. Some CL's are Type 2 which means they have 360 degree cranks and the Type 1 are later and have 180 degree cranks but neither has the oil hole for the electric starter and the cams on either due not have the tach drive. The CB's either the Type 2 or Type 1 both have the tach drive and the crank with the oil hole for the electric starter. I hope this helps. Cliff

crank

hi clif, what i bought last week was a rolling cb72 frame which came with a ca77e 1008**seized engine and a set of empty cb72 crankcases a cb72 barrel and a bare cb72 cylinder head what i hoped to do was take the internals from the ca77 and fit them into the cb72cases or would it be easier to buy the cb72 bottom half i have been offered if more expensive, regards john.

John, what do you mean by a bare head? Does it have the valves, cam and lifters, or is it empty? The CA crank as I said earlier is a 360 degree and would work with the CB cases as far as I know but than you would have to have a Type 2 cam for the head to make it work. Cliff

John,
If I was you I would forget about the CA engine and concentrate on getting either a complete CB engine or all the CB inters for the CB cases. It would probably be less expensive to get the complete engine even if you had to rebuild it. Cliff
