An introduction and questions

Post by phactory » Sat Jan 10, 2009 12:49 pm

Hello! I just joined this forum today. My name is Phil and I live in the Northeast. I am a long time rider, restorer, and lover of motorcycles! I currently have 15 in the stable, mostly European bikes, but also 2 Honda CB750's (K1 , K3) and a CB550F K1.

I have wanted to get a CB77 for a long time and I figure I should start looking. I actually should have started looking 20 years ago, but what are you going to do!

I recently came across an unknown year CB72. I never really considered one as I always wanted the 305. The CB72 is in pretty good condition, but I have not got a price for it yet. It is showing just under 17K miles and looks pretty original, except I would say that the bars are not the original as they seem pretty high and the Honda bible says that only the late bikes have a low rise, and the bars on it look like they have more than a low rise.

Are the CB72's were less, the same or more than a comparable CB77? I was told that they were never sold in the home market and that Japanese collectors love them. Is that true?

Thanks for any and all information, Phil

Sorry Loud Mouse,

I didn't get the engine or frame number yet. What can you ascertain from the picture?

Thanks, Phil

lm,

What makes you say that? Off the top of your head, what do you think this bike is worth? Assume that there is nothing major wrong with the bike and that it will be a fairly easy runner.

Thanks, Phil

The 250 power jet carb will have a aluminum screw on the right side and I don't think I see one on that carb. .................lm

Well it's worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.
I'd pay maybe 1500 for that, but I wouldn't assume that it was going to run smoothly out of the gates.
