What year is my Honda CB 77
What year is my Honda CB 77
I'm the newbie here. Just picked up a restoration project. All that I know is that it is a Honda CB77 Superhawk. How do I find out what year this baby is? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome!
You can tell the year from the frame number and engine number. If you search here, there are some posts with the information on decoding the number. Bill Silvers Restoration Reference Guide has a lot of information on year and the part numbers for each year. Or post both numbers here and I am sure someone will help.

? Year of CB77
Ok ... Frame # CB7710279_ _ and
Motor # CB77E10279_ _
I was told that the "1" following the "CB77" indicates that it is a 1961. I did get ahold of registration and insurance card and it says 1966. So???
Thanks for taking the time.

The first four digits are the model, CB77 so it is a SuperHawk. The first digit of the last 5 is the year, so this is a 1961. In 63 they used 6 digits, and 65 they used 7 digits, so it is not a 66.
The book also says the engine number on these early bikes had an extra "check digit", usually a 1. If this is true, it looks like your engine number is missing a digit.
Reading your post again, does your _ _ mean you have two more numbers? If so then you have a 7 digit number and you may have a 1965-1967 depending on what those numbers are. It would look to be about a 66.
