What would you pay?

I am looking at 66 cb77 that had a surface fire on one side due to a stuck petcock, took out most of the rubber on the left side (tank cover, seat etc) He wants $500 but that seems a bit steep. What do you think?

little more info from the seller
Peg covers, grip, and tank knee pad on the left side of the bike are completely gone. Fuel lines, spark plug wires, etc. will also need replacement

I would offer him 400 for it, it's worth that in parts. I would be more concerned with any aluminum in that burn area, make sure nothing like that melted. Engine cooling fins, carb etc. Does the engine turn over? Check on the harness as well as it runs close to that area. Most if not all of the destroyed pieces you mentioned are available some cheap some not. I think he did you a favor on that seat (kidding) good luck.

If the mufflers have no holes and are two piece mufflers, it has an original honda turn signal switch and a uncut front fender.

You have roughly $450.00 in parts right there , I would low ball and work your way up. If it is your first project I'd buy see what you can do with it, worse case you can part it out.

Good Luck,

I think the sweet pinstriping alone is worth at least $250 right off the bat ;-)
