Advantage to any particular year?

Post by ivancook » Tue Dec 01, 2009 7:59 pm

Been reading about the CB77 changes between years, in particular the switch to alloy front forks.

Are the Type 2 forks better/worse? I know AL on bicycles tends to not last as long as steel since it becomes more brittle over time when stressed.

Any advantage to a particular year, or is it primarily visual?

Thanks in advance.

Could also be 'symbolic' -- 1964 is the one that Robert Pirsig rode in 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance'.

1961 would be interesting, as that's the 1st year (here again, maybe just symbolic).

1967 is also cool too, as there were things on the bike that were particular to that year (seat, etc).

The internals are slightly updated on the later models but I have never compared them. I do like the look of the early steel lowers. They just look more like the classic Honda GP racers of the 60s. Purely personal, though.
