speedometer screws?

Post by 68Cb77 » Tue Mar 16, 2010 11:13 pm

The 2 tiny screws that hold the speedometer in the headlight case, mine were not really the right ones when I got the bike, and now 1 is gone anyway. Does any know the size of those? Or where you might get one? Thanks, JOhn.

Are you talking about the ones that hold the speedo innards to the speedo case?
If so I probably have some if they are the same as a Dream.
Don't see them shown on the fiche.
I you can post a pic of where they go someone will probably have them.

I picked mine up at the hardware store. Stainless . Not sure of the thread. I just took the gasket down there and matched them up.

Mine were M4x.75, 6mm long. I need some too, let me know if you find any. The one's you can buy at Home Depot are .7 pitch.

BTW - Honda still sells that part number, but like all M3, M4, M5, and M12 screws, the thread pitch won't match the old JIS screws and there won't be any warning, just knackered threads. A lot of the new screws made back in the day had a dimple next to the cross.

The dimple indicates the bolt was changed to standard metric from JIS. The screws in the case of the speedo are the same pitch as the screws that hold it to the rubber gasket. I usually swap them out, as the ones in the back of the speedo usually stay nice and shiny.

That's a good call by Davo - I just mined 4 out of the back of a busted speedo. If you want 2, PM me your address and I'll send them along.
