BROKEN clutch cable!

Post by Ryan » Mon Aug 09, 2010 10:45 am

My clutch cable broke on the weekend. The tab that holds it to the lever came off.

I figured now is a good time to switch to low bars. But am having some trouble finding the correct cable number.

This is the number it shows...22870-281-000, I'm thinking this is for intermediate bars. (which I have now)

Would this be the correct new number 22870-268-010??????????????

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Classic Honda has a complete set of cables with the low bars: http://www.classichondarestoration.com/ ... d_215.html

I'm guessing you'll want to replace the brake cable as well with the swap and this might be easier than trying to find each individual part.

THANKS !

I will probably order this...

BUT! I would also like a spare, as I drive my bike daily...and I'm pretty sure I can source this cable locally. So a number would be really helpful since i need this today !!!

Thanks again

If nobody posts up, I would try calling up the classic honda place and see if they can give you a part number. I'm sure they'll be happy to help out.

Looking at bikebandit, there are two available numbers. I'm guessing tall and low bars. I'm also guessing the longer one for the tall bars would be the more expensive one? You never know with older bikes. I would just take both numbers to you local shop and see if they have a length description or can measure them if they have them. THANKS ! I ended up being able to fix the cable. (I also ordered a new set for the low bars off of classic honda) THANKS!!!

The cable was actually pretty easy to fix.

I cut the cable to where it wasnt frayed,
Cut the casing back,
Took the little "ball" unit on the end,
drilled out the old cable/solder
put the cable back in,
re soldered using lead solder
hooked her up and she goes !!!!!

THANKS for everyones help on this.

I'll post of some pictures when i get the low bars on with new mirrors !
