Tire Question - Balancing?

Post by marlin4622 » Mon Nov 08, 2010 2:42 pm

i just put on new tires on my superhawk. I noticed that they also put on these gummie weight things to balance the wheel.

It never had those on before, and I have been looking to see if there have been others with them on and i haven't found a bike on here that has them.

Is it necessary that they be balanced?? or is the wheel automatically balanced or something? Thanks!

it's necessary for a smooth ride. There are several types of wheel weights for balancing. I think there are a kind that get attached to the spokes as well.

Wheel weights

Marlin, my CL had lead weights wrapped around the spoke nipples. The last set of tires I had mounted the installer got them balanced by rotating the tire on the rim. It runs out real smooth.......................D
