The power of ebay - Just got a tool set

Post by cyclon36 » Sun Jan 16, 2011 10:44 pm

Ok, this goes to show you that the way you list your item is everything. I just picked up this tool kit off of ebay. It came with the owners superhawk when he bought it new and he's just had it stored since.

Total price paid: $27 plus shipping. There's no pouch but it is in the US.

At the same time, another tool set sold on ebay

This one went for $177 and it was in Japan.

The difference? The one in Japan had every make of 305 listed in the title. The one I won was just listed as honda 305 toolkit

Good deal! Mis-spelled? There's a lot of stuff at the right price if you try different smellings; its amasing how menny peeple ar illitrit!

I see missing:
  • Tappet feeler
    4mm tappet wrench
    9mm pressed-plate wrench
    Points file
The pressed-plate rear shock C-spanner looks wrong, too; but probably a change in manufacture method or manufacturer (originally Kowa, I believe). But, hey, $27 is a right result!

Yeah, I knew there were a few items that were not there which are usually the harder to find ones. Overall, you can't beat the deal. I'll be looking for the other ones separately I guess.

The kit in the top pic is not for the C/CA/CB/CL72/77 bikes.
The tools are not correct if ya wanted to display them as original for this issue bike.
If ya want tools ya got them. ............lm

Thanks Ed. I'm not planning on showing the bike or displaying the tools. I was after two things, a set of tools that fit and are of the general era of the bike. Being stuck on the side of the road before, I know the value of a tool set that works.

Just out of curiosity though, what are the signs that tipped you off and do you have a guess as to what bike these did come off of?

Almost all the tools are wrong.
Shape, size, design.
I'd guess a small engine bike from the late 60's on. ...........lm

Well, shoot. So much for a good find. I'll ask the owner what's up.
