Missing Starter Clutch Assembly?

Post by houseowax » Sun Nov 11, 2012 2:12 pm

Just got my side covers off of my CB77. This is my first CB teardown but it seems to me the entire starter clutch is missing, right? Just confirming that what I'm seeing here- the large gap behind the rotor- is a missing starter clutch. If so I'll put it on the list and start combing the virtual scrapyard for one.

You do seem to be missing the entire assembly. I'd check the back of the rotor too for stripped threads, broken screws etc.

Thanks as always, 48. I figured that was the case, but I'm unfamiliar with CB engines.

So- it looks as though these aren't that easy to come by. I assume they're not available to order. Is eBay my best bet? Anyone out there have one they're looking to part with?

Only the clutch outer and knock pin are no longer available from Honda, so I'd find a used assembly on ebay with a good outer and knock pin. The rest you can replace with new for cheap.

I think I have an extra. I'll take a peek tonight.

Many thanks.
In the meantime- does anyone know if the crankshaft assembly incl starter clutch and pistons from a CL would fit a CB? There's one on eBay right now that'd give me an extra set of one over pistons to play with too.

??? No starter clutch on a CL - kick-only. Might really be a CB or CA.
