Cappellini Products for CB77...

Post by Vince Lupo » Sun Jul 14, 2013 2:10 am

Been checking out a number of items made by Cappellini for the CB77, such as this:

Has anyone installed any of their products on their CB77? Is this oil filter conversion worth doing, for example?

I don't get it, why spend that much money(and time) to install an inferior oil filter? Sure, the paper filter is easy to change, cleaning the original one isn't that much of a job and can be done for free.

Hey vince that conversion looks awesome!! I like how he shows spin testing with a cb77 oil pump, it sure seems like you couldn't go wrong. I noticed it ships from Santa Cruz, Ca.
Hey have you ever seen eurospares.com? lots of pictures and stuff to read.

In my opinion paper filters rock. They stop everything, I started using K-N on my YAMA vision and my TE250 HUSKY because they are made for high flow, for syn oil.

Actually, they stop less. K&N and other performance filters do increase air/oil flow. HOW? Less restrictive filter media. Which means more dirt, which can drastically shorten engine life in both cases. On newer applications I stick with Original or top brand aftermarket filters, non performance.

In reguard to the oil filter , I'm with Mike. Keep it original.

So is the centrifugal filter catching more or less dirt etc than a paper filter?

A slight veer off topic here, but I can't see how using a K&N air filter can shorten engine life -- maybe if you didn't oil it, it could be a problem (or if you oiled it too much!). Guess we'd have to do a longitudinal side-by-side comparison to see for sure.

A paper filter media is capable of filtering far finer particles by a long shot.

Where I'm not convinced is when it comes to altering an original system. My fears are of the oil system to properly get the oil through the media.

Centrifugal filters are still used today combined with media.

I don't need to run a test . I've seen it first hand. Course ill admit they can be better than some cheap aftermarket or no filters at all.
