bought another cb77 today, very very well kept but.......

Post by hillhudson » Tue Feb 25, 2014 11:47 pm

hey ladies and gents,

I found this 1967 cb77 on craigslist today and luckily was the first to email the owner, The bike was in a wreck a little over a year ago and i just bought it off of the rider who was hit while riding it. he broke his hip and leg and other various bones and now has a limp but still rides! he is a trooper. this bike was very very well kept and all original, so it is sad to see it with damage because everything else is so perfect! I personally have never seen a cb77 up close that was this original, complete and well teken care of. I have also never seen one with this tail light configuration or with blinkers. it has the left hand blinker switch and everything. is this rare? what are your opinions about its original condition? i'm wondering if the frame is bent at all, but i did get a title for it and got it running! it hadn't ran since his accident. he told me that the top end had been gone through and rebuild but everything else was unmolested. the top crank case right hand, top engine mount is cracked from the impact i assume. it also has the tank with no crossover tube and the petcock to match.

Hill,

It is a late issue bike with chrome fenders and large oval tail light. Looks like it took a pretty good hit. Lots of good parts there to donate to other bikes if it can't be made to run true.

handlebar switch is a home-made "upgraded" part
assembly of Japanese motorcycles requires great peace of mind (Pirsig)

tom, yea the bike will offer up some quality parts for my build! most likely going to sell the mufflers and exhaust because they are in such greats shape with the baffles still in. i will need to make some money back to afford other parts to get going on the build.

jensey,

how do you know the handlebar switch is not stock?

Hill

That's a pretty good reference bike to work from. It must have been a hefty impact. Pretty sure that the winkers are an add-on but it would be nice to see some close ups of the front and rear mountings.

g-man,

i tired to lighten this photo up a little,

the blinkers have factory mounting tabs welded to the frame. at least that what it looks like to me.
