front drive sprocket too loose?

Post by plankspanker » Sun Nov 30, 2014 1:07 pm

While reassembling original front drive sprocket and retaining plate, I found that the sprocket was not completely tight (some side play on shaft) after tightening the two screws. Should it have any play and, if not, any thoughts on why this might be happening. Original parts do not appear to any significant wear. Am I missing any pieces?

Thanks LM. Interesting....I've never dealt with a make where a drive chain sprocket was not supposed to be completely tight against the splines....then again, I've been dealing with pre-war Indians up until now! Will assemble as is.
