parts bike 1961

Post by alan curtis » Tue Jun 07, 2011 12:23 pm

hi,got this cb72, was told it was a 67 bike. but i think its earlier than that.
frame no. cb72- 10935
engine cb72e- 110936
swing arm is different, extra holes in front of damper mount, and there is no dip stick, looks like an vent, motor turns over on the starter and kick, which i didnt expect as it has been in a barn for a long time, owner said motor had been rebuilt, lots of chrome parts on it.
any info. alan

Hi Alan

Sounds like a 1961. Holes in front of the damper mount were for passenger footrests, I think. Quite a lot of differences from later models such as alloy top damper covers.

One of the more knowledgeable forum members will fill us in....

Breather tower at left of second picture, breathes into cover next to sprocket.

I have a NOS engine valley cover if you need one....

Alan

Do you have pictures of the wheels? Particularly front brake. Is it SLS or TLS?

both wheels are tls, front has a bridgestone tyre on it, seat base is in really nice nick, cover has a little tear in side, and its nice and soft. i would think there is some later parts in the trays of parts, there is a chrome well cover that fits. would like to see a 61 bike.

Alan

Check this out. Some really nice stuff on this site. This bike has the rear mounted footrests. A weird idea but there you go...
