Rearset troubles.

Post by Jethro » Thu Nov 03, 2011 12:10 am

Hi, So I've been working on getting my new CB project wrapped up. The only things I really need to do that I'm having trouble with is my rear-sets. When I got the bike the set that was on it was not original and was set up totally incorrectly. The shift lever was not for this bike and will not work if it is set up the correct way. The splined shifting arm was tack-welded to the shift shaft. I have since replaced the shifting mechanism for one with good splines. I now need to return to an original(ish) rear-set configuration. I have looked on e-bay and there have not been any rear-set components for some time now. Has anyone here made any modifications or have any ideas for my rear-set catastrophe?

Thanks in advance,
Jethro

What parts are you needing? A pic of what you are talking about would make it clearer.

J; which parts in this pic are you missing? I can put them in the box I am sending you already if you need any of this stuff. I will say tho that everything here is in very poor condition.
Thanks
Randy

I'll get a pic up later today. I'm thinking I can still use some of my parts if I modify them. Ill need to ream out the pivot/bolt hole on the shift lever. So I guess what I really need is just the splined shift arm. How do the splines look on yours R?

Jethro,

Looks an awful lot like the CYB shifter, hard to tell from pics. I have one, and I had my machinist make a bushing for it to work with the stock mount bolt. The rod ends are universals, and someone may have made the rod, easy to do. Is the I.D. correct on the shifter for the stock mount bolt?

J; the splines on the front linkage piece in my pic are fine, the plating is falling off tho.
