Post by danielmoto » Sat Dec 31, 2011 4:26 pm

Hello to all,
Will try to keep this short, My uncle passed away a few months ago and hes passed on to me his cb72 that he brought new in 1965, was took of the road 20 years ago and he covered everything in grease and thick oil, it had done 43,000 miles when he decided to store it up have cleaned a few small areas and seems ok , going to strip and rebuild out of respect to my uncle.
Many thanks to all who have posted on the forum for the answers to a few questions i had will post a couple of pics when i get time cheers. danielmoto

first post and put in wrong section sorry for that. I will never own the bike as it legaly belongs to my four year old son, you know how families are etc etc i live in near spalding in lincolnshire.
Anyway just took me 6 hours to get the engine out and head off on the bench, right hand piston is stuck solid with rust for some reason he never put oil in this one, oil residue was in left bore so should be fine, also the exhaust valve on the right hand side has rusted aswell. going to go the whole hog and refresh the engine anyway as its already done 43,000 smiles.
Was going to fill the rh bore with oil and see if it frees up or is there another way to free it up as piston barrel is stuck solid.
