Left air filter side cover / pipes removal

Post by ScramblerScott » Sun Feb 18, 2024 3:02 pm

Hey guys, On my 66’ CL77…does anybody have an obvious and simple way to remove the left air filter side cover? Initially looks like I will need to remove the exhaust pipes to easily get the cover off or possibly removing the tool kit box and sliding the cover forward and up.
Thanks in advance.

On a CL77 or CL72; many will say to completely remove the pipes, then the LH side cover can be removed.

If lucky and your CL77 is cooperative, the following method can work: Remove the muffler can if so-equipped. Loosen both exhaust pipes at the head just slightly, which allows some wiggle movement. Then completely remove the single rear mounting bolt situated close the the rear of the pipes in between the two pipes. This allows the exhaust pipes to drop down slightly and away from the frame. (Seat removal might be necessary). There is now enough room to maneuver the left side cover off/on and out/in the space.

Let us know how it goes.
