Piston Ring Whining

Post by Dr. Frankenstein » Mon Feb 25, 2019 5:26 pm

Can anybody tell me WHY a set of 13010-275-000 piston rings for a CB/CA77 is ten times the amount of a Regular set of 13010-268-000 piston rings? $140 vs $21.95...??
I am truly mystified...

"And on the Eighth Day the Lord made a set of 13010-275-000 piston rings for a CB/CA77; and He saw that it was Good - and all the Angels gathered round the Lord and said 'Hey, Lord, those are Pretty Good - What're You going to Charge for Them'?

And the Lord said unto the Angels "Let it be a Surprise Unto Them that seek to Resurrect the Dead Machines, that THIS part shall Not Be Cheap, and Dear to Thy Bosom..."

Yeah, I know I'm going to hell - not for That, though.
Sheesh.

Is there a suitable substitute for these 60mm rings? Aftermarket, maybe?

Cost difference between the 250 and 305 rings is as I know it the larger number of 305 engines being built and the lack of the number of 250 engines being built.
The STD 750 rings will work for 4TH over with the 305. ...........lm

I think you mean 13010-266-000 piston rings - the early thick type, judging by the conversations we've had.

There just seems to be a lot of stock of those about as very few people need them these days.

Supply & demand.....

I suppose - but like I said, I was just whining. I'll probably just suck it up and lay out the cash; the bike won't run without them.
