Of the three empty bolt holes below the starter motor cable clamp, the one on the upper left receives the bolt for the starter sprocket stopper. The hole to the right of that is for one of the right side cover bolts. The one below it is for one of the three stator bolts. Keeping the sprockets in line with each other is imperative for chain reliability. Are there any marks on the inboard face of the rotor that could provide a clue?
