shock absorber repair

Post by raydike » Sat Jul 27, 2019 10:43 am

This neophyte was inspired by the nice post of G-man on how to repair the dream shock absorbers so I thought to give it a go myself. I made some tools, a bit crude but they did the job. I found a repair manual with an exploded view of the front shocks. In the manual I also found that the front shocks contain 24ml of oil and the rear shocks 38ml. I put SAE 30 weight fork oil in them and must say it rides much better now. What a difference. My bike is a 1961 C77.

:-) We were all neophytes at one stage or another.

The work done and advice given by G-man, LM and lots of others on this site is invaluable.

Nice job on the shocks and spring compressors.
Thanks.

Regards

Great job!

The exploded diagram is very useful, too. Is that in one of the standard manuals?

The manual I have is like this one: https://www.brammotoren.nl/a-56017643/b ... -uw-motor/
It is in Dutch of course but has quite a lot of useful information, also about torque settings and other stuff.
