Answered a Craigslist posting for a '66 Dream and found it and a Superhawk were being sold at an upcoming garage sale and they were taking offers. I was going to be out of town for the sale so I went and looked at them- the Dream looked pretty good, missing carb, carb covers, battery hold down & cover but otherwise very original and complete. The CB77 was also complete (except for carbs) and very original, but quite crusty looking. I needed some mufflers for another project so I offered $300 for it and $800 for the Dream, not knowing anything about the internals of either bike (both turned over freely). I figured those were kinda low-ball as they said several other people were interested but on monday I got a call saying come pick them up, they were both mine. When I went to get them, the owner's wife said there were some manuals too and to take whatever I could find related to the bikes... a quick look turned up Bill Silver's resto guide, a factory manual, and parts book. Then I noticed the Dream's battery cover on top of a box on the work bench, the box also contained the missing carb & covers, battery hold- down, all nuts and bolts, the CB77 carbs and a complete original tool kit! Did I mention they both have clean titles? After putting a little mineral spirits in the Dream tank today I discovered the petcock needs rebuilding. In the mean time, I rigged up a spare CB77 tank, cleaned the plugs, cleaned & resealed the carb and checked the points. It started after about five kicks. :)

Garage sale double header... scored a Dream & Superhawk!
With some new, non-petrified, non-scalloped tires, I've been driving the Dream around a fair bit and tonight took it to the local drive-in old car get together. After parking her next to a '99 Ferarri 450GT she got tons of attention and everyone wanted to tell me about how that was their first "real" motorcycle or the first one they ever rode back in the day. A good time all around.
