Post by 65honda305 » Thu May 21, 2009 9:29 am

i removed carb again for the ? time. found slow jet slightly plugged and floats were not measured at 26.5. small holes in bottom jets were slightly plugged. cleaned readjusted floats and bought 4 extra plugs. will be installed tonight, cross my fingers i don't find fuel on plugs with the lovely black soot. i will include a picture on next post. i have restored from ground up. thanks pete

fouled out plugs

Post by 65honda305 » Sat May 23, 2009 7:49 pm

well i am to the end of the fouling out plug concern. i cleaned carb again, found slow jet plugged, readjusted floats to 26.5 from the lip of the carb. installed 2 new plugs gapped them to .28 exactly. made sure air filter was cleaned. come to find choke was on the whole time, it has been a few years in restoration and the choke lever was up and not down. every time lever was down engine would die out immediately, i think cause the jets were plugged and the float measurement was way off. i was fouling plugs within 5 min. yesterday i rode in the sunset for over and hour and plugs were a nice color tan, like gold to me. thanks for all of your input. i just took these pictures today for your enjoyment.

runs great

Post by 65honda305 » Thu Jun 11, 2009 8:11 pm

All is well, finally got out for a couple hour ride the other day. Plugs still burning tan in color. Runs great on the highway at about 70mph with the steering knob tight.
