Spoke Help Please

Post by Stealthes » Mon May 03, 2010 9:42 pm

Spoke help. Can anyone tell me where I can get a spoke set for my 1969 CA77, I got a set from Tiawan and they are way off. I looked at Buchanan Wheel but they are very $$. Also can anyone tell me if the front wheel is laced up off-center or is the hub dead center,I need to know as soon as possible. Thanx Stealthes

I was able to get a few spokes for my CB from Honda still, but I re-zinced mine. turned out really nice, and less money than new, plus you know they are going to fit. I've heard many complaints about aftermarket ones. Although I'm pretty sure the Buchanan ones would be nice.
and I just laced up my wheels by screwing all the spokes up about the same amount, seems the hub is centered. As long as the spokes go back properly (where they came from). I don't think you could have a problem. Of course you have to true up the rim when the spokes start to tighten up. Hope this helps....once again, mine is a Superhawk, bit different bike.

There was someone selling genuine NOS spoke on eBay for $2.99 each last week.

I bought a cheap ($39) set from Thailand (ebay) just to see how bad they were and this is the comparison. My existing spokes are too pitted to safely replate them so I had to buy new. I can get stainless single or double butted for about £100 (two wheels) in UK.

These seem pretty close to me. They are not butted and the angles are a little off, but no worse than 'made to measure' spokes I have used on other British bikes. I have some NOS Kaga wheel rims and will see how they go together.
