"brushing" sound upon front wheel reassembly SOLV

Post by greg78gs750 » Sat May 22, 2010 10:00 am

hi guys,

i am puttiong my wife's 67 dream back together. disassembled and cleaned the front wheel/ brake assembly, upon reassembly i have noticed a "brushing" sound when i rotate it. i plan on taking it off to check it out, but anyone have any ideas? the brake shoes are the same ones that were on it, they had plenty of wear left, and the brushing occurs even when there is no preload on the brake cable. i really dont think it's the shoes rubbing. wheel seems to rotate freely. any ideas would be appreciated, thanks guys!!

greg

oh, i am not sure if it rubbed BEFORE the disassembly. everything is greased, bearings are newer type with rubber seals and seemed good.

Maybe the speedo drive is dragging a bit. check any fender rubbing or fender bolts. You can check if the shoes are rubbing by backing off the cable a few turns.
