Steering Damper? Removal

Post by Rookie305 » Thu May 18, 2006 12:27 pm

I am in the process of taking apart my Dream. But I am having trouble removing the black round knob right behind the handlebars. Does anyone have any clues as how to remove this? By the way, is it called the steering damper?

You just unscrew it. Mine was really tight at first. Thought I was screwing something up. I gave it a good soaking of WD-40 and a few hours later it came off. I have since assembled the bike and threads are now clean. Turns very easily now.

Alright. Easy enough. Maybe too simple for me. Thanks!

I used a pipe wrench on mine. They can get very tight. May need someone to hole the forks for you or lay the frame on ground for leverage.Alittle heat might help.
