I did search here about this and saw some discussion and retapping suggestions but I can't believe that Honda found/made one-of-a-kind screws just for this cover?
I recently bought a '68 CA77. Two of the screws on the rotor cover were in real tight, I got one out with the impact wrench (buggered it up tho) and the other I had to drill the head off. No big deal, I'll just run down to the local hardware store and pick me up some replacements.... Wrong!
As per the Honda 300 Model CA77 Parts Catalog 1973 Edition page 22:
Cover, Dynamo Screws #30 05627 93700-05016 5x16
What I have are 5x13 Flat Head screws, but the threads appear to be a .90 pitch (not .80 that is the standard course pitch for the 5mm) and that is what some say they are in the discussions I found when I searched here. The guy at the hardware store said he never heard of a .90 metric pitch and I have not found any reference to it in my full internet search. In American thread size they are a dead on 28 pitch, and my guess is that a 10-28 would be a close match except that 10-24 & 10-32 are the standards:-(
So.... I need two of these magical/mystical screws. What are Y'all (I'm from Minnesota but the Dream came from Tennessee so I'm trying to be Bi-Lingual) using for these screws? Anyone have a few extra for sale? If/When I take the case off I'll probably drill/tap it out for 6mm screws and re-countersink the cover to match the larger heads.
tnx for any help suggestions.

Dynamo (Rotor) Cover Screws
George,
There are a few threads in this forum that address this but for a short recap: What you have are the original JIS thread pitch screws that were phased out by Honda in '66-'67 and changed to modified JIS thread pitch that conformed to the still current ISO thread pitch. The sizes that are affected on our bikes are 3, 4, 5, and 12mm diameter. Some people have just retapped to the current pitch to use easily sourced fasteners. Many of us have found sources for the old pitch fasteners as have I. They are available from Joseph Tubbs at icemanjat@hotmail.com or FAST FRED who is on this forum. There may be others. E-mail either of the two gentlemen above with your requirements. As a warning, do not buy any Honda part numbered fasteners in the 3, 4, or 5mm size that have an "-0A" suffix, as they are the newer thread pitch. Another George
Yup, I did see in the posts that the screws were phased out, but I never really got a fix on what folks were doing for the replacements other than the retapping as you have said. For now I would just like to find a couple to hold on the cover, I will attempt your contact suggestions.
tnx for the help George
