Will a CA95 front wheel fit on a CA77?

Post by Cheburashka » Thu Mar 17, 2011 1:34 pm

Looking for a replacement wheel for the front of my '65 CA77. I've found one that's 16" and it's from a CA95. Is the rim narrower on the 150 than on the 305?

Thanks

I believe the CA95 rims are narrower than the CA77 rims. You probably also have a difference in hub widths and diameters which will affect spoke angle. I have a pair of CA95 rims that I will measure tonight for you.

I did get the CA95 rims measured and they are 1.85 width just like the CA77 rims. The nipple angle looked different, though. You could try it if you wanted to roll the dice.

I was under the impression that they are the same rim but different hubs...just my 2 cents...

Are you looking for a rust free 305 rim or one that is useable? I have one that has some pitting.

I don't mind a bit of rust.

Just has to be round and true, or truable. Pits OK. Mine has a flat-spot and a chunk missing out of the brake lining (from an errant whack of the dead-blow hammer I was using to take out that flat spot).

PM sent.
