Thanks all for the feedback. The 'no screw' makes since now (i.e. 1.7 qt.). Thanks to the best forum on the 305!
Just curious, is there a secret about getting the screws loose for the oil filter? The screws that I have are phillips and are rusted. I have been hitting them pretty hard with WD but they won't budge. Maybe get the motor hot and then try (provided I can get her started)?

First, make sure you have the right driver tip or bit.
It should go completely into the screw with no slack.
I use a T-handle screwdriver and dip the tip in valve grinding paste to increase the bite on the screw.
Then smack it in a couple of times with a hammer which can help break the bond of the corrosion.
Then push in as hard as you can with the driver and give a quick, sharp twist.
If that doesn't work, I break out the drill and vice grips.

Hi,
If an impact driver doesn't find the grip anymore, and all other options are gone, there is one thing you could try before you drill or weld it.
Take a hammer (which I officially don't have in possession), and a chisel (neither officially in my possession) and gently cut a straight slit in the screw. Take a large screwdriver and changes are it will come loose.
btw, I use diamond coated screwdrivers first, look at :
