Those handlebar details began on C77s in 1960 so it was not a one-year thing. They lasted into the 1963 model year. The crankcases changed late in 1961 with the breather removed.

My C77 is from 1960 and rather rougher than yours...

Thats neat. I need a chain guard, batter cover and clutch cable if you or anyone else has one. Love the fender differences on front.

Previous owner got a little carried away with hacksaw on both front and rear fenders.......

I don't have any spares at the moment. Keep a look out on eBay.

Yes sir. I've been looking but don't have a great deal of knowledge about these bikes. Just recently found out there are 2 different sizes of battery cover. not sure what to bid on now. Is 59 the first year of this bike?

First model year is 1960, I believe. Before that there was a C76 with some common parts but it was a dry sump engine with an oil tank where the right side frame cover goes.

Th parts book is very informative if you can get one. Once you've worked out all of the part number changes for different years it can save you a ton of money.

If you send me a PM with your email, I can let you have a PDF.

As others have pointed out, your bike and motor are 1961.

Your wiring harness has the old part number system (pre '65) number 724851 and the last digit is probably a B and not an 8. The '64 parts manual shows the CA724851B harness supersceded the CA724851 harness.

The '64 parts manual also shows that the "B" harness was a factory harness beginning with frame number CA77 12421 - a couple thousand bikes after yours. It looks like either someone replaced your wiring haress (which might explain your wiring issues) or this is another example where Honda's "official" info is simply not correct.

I have no idea what the difference is between the "B" harness and the 724851, but I hope this information will help you in some way. If you have not done so yet, look at e3steve's sticky at the beginning of the "Electrical" forum to see his color coded wiring diagram. I found it extremely helpful.

G-Man. Thanks so much for hooking me up. Very neat material to read.
conbs- Bike has never been taken apart. It is origina harness. I'm not having harness issues, its just that when i took bike apart, i cant remember what ends went to what.............some are faded from heat/age and im trying to figure out where they go. Thanks for wiring diagram. that should help tremendously. Seems to be a very knowledgable group of people here. I have learned a great deal already. Thank.
