new handlebar cable routing?

Post by OldStan » Tue Dec 06, 2011 5:23 pm

I just got a set of new handlebars from cb750supply.com that are fairly close to my original bars. Seems to be the closest to original (undrilled and no slot) that I could find. When they went on sale I had to get them.

My question is- is it necessary to use the original routing (out by speedometer, in through hole right side of bar?) Would it work properly by running it through the handlebar to the center and out there? The tubing of the new bar is maybe an inch longer on each side, running it that way should give me enough more cable that I wouldn't need to cut the bars shorter or get a longer cable.
The new bars have more rounded curves than the original so binding in the handlbar shouldn't be a problem.

I suppose it's possible. (I'm assuming your talking about the throttle cable) The only thing is the bend radius of the cable once it exits the bars. The more bends, the more likely it is to bind. You could always try it and if it doesn't work, then you can drill your bars.
