Gaskets, seals and piston rings?

Post by kenkah » Sun Feb 19, 2012 12:10 pm

Working on a CA77 Dream and I did get it running as I had posted in a much earlier post. I was wondering if It would be a good idea to do a full tear down of the engine and replace the piston rings, gaskets and seals throughout?

I have only cleaned the carb, rebuilt the fuel petcock, and changed the oil to get the bike running. I also put in a new air filter and battery.

I am currently in the process of having the brakes relined and cleaning the inside of the hubs. I'll try to take some before and after pics. Getting tired of waiting for the Firestone Whitewalls to come out so I'm thinking of just buying the blackwalls for now and if the whitewalls become available I can pick them up at a later date. I want to have the bike up and running for April.

If it ain't broke....don't fix it.....

If you had it running and there were no unusual noises, smoke, vibration or other reasons to point to a problem, why risk screwing something up that is ok now.

Well that was my thought on not doing. I thought that if i did do it I shouldn't have any problems with it for awhile once I start riding it.
