Hi everyone new bike and new to the forum

As of today I was given a Honda dream 150 1964. I don't know much more about it. supposedly ran around a year ago but i suspect more like 5. I will post some pictures of the bike in a bit. So far what has been done consists of trying to kick start it, removing and trying to charge the battery(so far no luck).

couple of questions:

1: Does it need to have a battery to start if I'm kick starting it?

2: are there any past posts on this forum or other links that will help me figure out the next few steps on this bike. Like common problems coming out of the barn ect.

3: Any other good input would be nice!

Last and possibly least a bit about me. I ride daily on my commute around town. I own two other motorcycles; a Royal Enfield Electra 500 cc single 2009, and a Honda rebel 250 1986. I also have a 1973 MG Midget. I am fairly new to motorcycles but not to working on things. I'm 22 years old and live in oregon.

Welcome..... I always start with a fresh new battery. Even bikes that will start without one always seem (IMO) to start far better with a battery with a good charge.

Too bad about your front fender being butchered. Find a new one.

From there go with the standard route. Fresh oil. Check the fuel tank and system for rust. Clean the carb. New plug and see if it will run.

yeah sadly the rear fender also is quite damaged its split on the left hand side. I cant complain much sense the bike was free. the tank is a bit rusty and someone seems to have goon through and "worked" on the electrical system. Couple more questions....

Anyone have a link to the electrical diagram or an online manual?

Are these bikes 6 or 12V?

Hi nick, welcome to the forum. I had a 1965 Honda CA95 (150) myself before I fell in love with my 1963 Honda Dream CA77 (305). I sold my 1965 and I have been offing any left over parts that I have. I just sold a front fender. Sorry you didn't join the forum earlier. I know there are lots of people here that are willing to help you with your bike. May I suggest another website that I found while working on my CA95? It is www.fourwheelforum.com. When you get to the site and scroll down you will see a link to the Honda CA95 / 150 Benly restoration. Go there, its a lot like this site with lots of posts and people who work on these beasts, and one of the administrators on that site is a friend of mine. His screen name is Smithers. If you need any questions answered, he will help you, or point you in the right direction. Good luck with your build!

Oh and BTW, I LOVE the RE bullets. I've wanted one for quite sometime, but since the emissions are so strict here in CA. and I didn't know of anyone who has owned the newer RE versions to give me POSITIVE feedback on their reliability I have put it on the back burner.

OOPS and the CA95's are 6v and CA77's are 12v. :)

Well so far this poor little bike seems to be having its luck turning around! Sense the this morning when it was given to me I have managed to get it running. Didn't take too much work. It seems to run a little bit better every lap up and down the street i take it on. Still has some issues. One being the ignition switch seems to be shot. The second possibly related to the first is none of the lights work. It is missing its center stand and the kick stand is nearly rusted away. Thanks for the encouragement on this project. So far this seems like a pretty good little community.
