You got a lucky break there!

I would always be wary of putting too much force on the rotor as you are putting a lot of force on the big-ends which are a lot more expensive to replace than the pistons / barrels.

Have fun with your restoration.

Break your engine loose

Way to go. It would be interesting to hear what kind of compression you have in those cylinders. Let us know.

Did the penetrating oil have much rust in it? It sounds like things moved pretty easily, so I would guess not.

A thought just occurred to me. Has anyone ever tried putting some of that rust dissolver like EvapoRust in cylinders that were frozen up? It shouldn't hurt the pistons and it would seem like dissolving the rust would completely eliminate all of the little pieces of rust that might otherwise get left behind. Even though they get pretty soft from the penetrating oil, they can't be anything but abrasive at some level. I have a project bike that I might try this on, but I am not sure when I will get to it. Just a thought.

Engine freed up

The oil was clear that came out. I am wanting to put a bore scope in it and take a look if I can find a loaner.

BTW.....I will drain all oil, and "wash" crank case with 50/50 oil and diesel fuel, turning over by hand, then drain and refill with fresh oil. Will be looking for particulates in oil.
