Throttle Sticking

Post by mattybpt » Sun May 05, 2013 2:02 pm

I have cleaned the carb, lubed the cable, and the throttle continued to stick. I removed the throttle grip and greased everything so when I pull back on the cable it snaps back nicely. As soon as I tighten the handle bar throttle mounts it binds up the grip. I've sanding any minor burrs that may have caused friction. I tried moving the grip up and down on the handle bar, but it continues to bind. I've moved the tension adjustment screw in and out, but it continues to bind. It looks like it maybe going slightly off center as it tighten the screws. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know exactly what your problem is but I would wipe off all the grease. Grease gets hard when cold and attracts dirt making the throttle stick. If anything use a light oil.

sticking throttle grip

As soon as I tighten to the screws it binds the throttle handle. Any suggestions when putting it back together?

Mine has an adjusting screw on the bottom to adjust friction - It might be that if it is adjusted improperly.

Throttle Sticking

I have played with the small tension screw and that is not the problem. When putting the throttle handle housing back on do you need to alternate the long screw and the short screw?

Make sure the end of the grip isn't rubbing on the end of the handlebar.
