Honda Dream Year ID

Post by hrly94 » Wed Sep 11, 2013 8:06 pm

Have Found Early Honda Dream for Sale,The frame Number and I am 100% sure that there is No "C" Preceding this Frame Number A77-80056. It does NOT Have a Title. So I am Trying to Determine the Year of the Bike and Need Help. The Tank does Not Have a two peice Seam on the Top,Has a Metal Front Fender and the Tank Chrome does Not have Depressions for Your Knees or Rubber in the Same Area. The Bike is Rough, but Not Froze and it Appears to Be Mostly There. Thanks in Advance for Your Time,Jim

Don't Have Photos right Now But Looked at it Yesterday and Tried to Describe it, the Best I could and even sharing the Serial Number! If I could Guess from the Research I have been able to Find, It appears to be earlier than 1959. I Joined this Site Yesterday, Hoping Someone had Knowledge or Serial Number Reference Information to HELP Me Determine the Production Year? Thanks,Jim

Frame number

Post by conbs » Thu Sep 12, 2013 7:03 pm

What would be a "77" model except a CA77? The "C" could have been left off by mistake at the factory. It would apparently not be a 1960 as the "A" seems to be in the wrong location. CA77 would have no seam on the tank with cap in the middle.

Don't assume that the parts that are on it came on it originally. It could be a bitsa bike or "custom".

Your instinct to start with the frame number is correct.

Bill Silver says, "...when the second number is a "6", "7" or "8" in Dream chassis/engine numbers, the model is generally a CS72-77 high-pipe Dream Sport model or "other" chassis configuration, like sheet metal handlebars, rear luggage rack/solo seat combo, etc." Are you sure there is not another digit in front of the "8"? Also check out this thread: http://www.honda305.com/forums/early-ca ... am%20sport

No one can really help more than this without pictures.

And, as LM politely asked: add your location, please.

Thank you for giving your location as Florida and that is a good start.
This forum has many members in Florida and if you would give the town/city you may be surprised how close help may be... ............................lm
