Battery box and air filter areaBattery box and air filter areaHi. I am working on assembling my Dream and I have a question for you folks. I am putting the air cleaner door on and I noticed the two wires coming off the brake light switch aren't through the grommet. Do they just get mashed between the metal air cleaner door and the frame? Also, is the door supposed to have a rubber gasket of some kind between it and the frame? Thanks.

2002 BMW R1150GS Scratch that last question about the brake stop switch wires. They must go through the grommet. I disconnected them and ran them through the grommet after shifting my wire harness around to get the slack. I am still wondering about the door to the airbox though. What holds it in place? It just falls off when I set it there. Perhaps the tool tray? Idk.

2002 BMW R1150GS Air Cleaner CoverJeff, If you look at that cover in relation to the rest of the frame there is nothing to seal where that cover fits. The air cleaner has to have plenty of air which it gets through the hollow middle of the frame. That cover blocks out the minimal (at least it should be) amount of vapor coming from the battery and that's about it.
It is a hokey setup to have the battery hold it in place but, that's what Honda came up with.
