Speedometer gasket at headlight housing

Post by Frank » Sun May 22, 2016 9:48 pm

Is there a gasket or seal that is available for the speedometer to headlight housing? It appears to be a white seal where the speedometer fits in. Thanks Frank

Hi Frank

There was a white gasket supplied with the speedo. Here is a picture of a NOS speedo with a rather crumbly gasket. Silicone would be the obvious choice nowadays.

I just went to my shop stock of O-rings and slipped the longest O-ring over the speedometer. You could probably pick one up at an industrial supply for about 15 cents.

Or you could cut one out of a sheet of cork gasket material.

Some of this and a scalpel would make an authentic reproduction. I may ask my laser cutting freinds to meke a few for me.
