CA77 mud flaps?

Post by olde-goat » Sat Oct 20, 2018 8:56 am

I am still sourcing parts etc for my CA77 restoration. Not sure what the proper name is for what appears to be a steel reinforced rubber flap under both the front and rear fender lip. I only have the metal that spans the width of the fender, and just a few small remaining pieces of rubber attached to it. I doubt if these are available as I have looked on the net and couldn't even find a picture. Does anyone have these and or a picture, more than likely I will have to fabricate them. I appreciate any help. Thanks

Here is a pic of the front:

I don't recall seeing one under the rear. My '66 doesn't have one on the rear.

only on the front. I have made several out of 1/8 sheet rubber using a pattern made from the original (which I still have). the originals had the metal kind of laminated into the rubber but you can get the same effect with metal on just one side. no one can see it anyway. a better question is whether the mounting bolts should be chrome or zinc. I have seen original bikes with both. I like the chrome.
Good luck

They were being re-manufactured a while back.

Clauss Studios may heve been the ones doing them.

I appreciate all the replies. I just assumed that if the front had one that there would also be one on the rear. Now that I know what it looks like I will go ahead and make one.

As for the bolts somewhere in all my pictures I have seen the Dream motorcycles with plated, flat head bolts, just plain similar to old style car bumper bolts only much smaller. Thanks again

I just checked out Clauss Studios, they have a few pieces for the Dream, now I know where to get the rubber profile that goes between the front fork and fender. Thanks GMan for the tip. Gotta like/appreciate forums... Thanks again
