Thats funny because I did the same thing. I took them out of the box and thought wow they are wider than I thought they would be. But ive seen other bikes with them mounted and thought they looked good. So I decided to keep them. However, my bike has been one of those very long and tedious projects due to my husband being a business owner and not having a lot of extra time to finish it. So, there it is, almost completely ready to put back together and I have sooooooo many parts just waiting to be bolted on. It is driving me INSANE!!! <sigh> Let me know how they sound. And shoot me over some pictures when your done. Id love to see them mounted.

Hi,
I got the idea for the rack from BigScooter, another forum member. It's a modified trail90 rack that I had laying around. I think his was from a similar model. I also got the idea for the drag bars from one of his bikes too. He has a solo seat on his as well that looks great. Do a search for his postings, his bike looks really nice. I've been looking for solo seats too but I just cant seem to find one that I think will work well with mine.

Hi,
So here's some pics of the Dunstalls from JCWhitney. $56 each, not too bad. I think they look pretty good. They were way too loud and they were too free flowing. It would die as soon as I opened the choke. So I had to modify the baffles. Also head gasket leaked a little after the first run so I torqued the head nuts to 22 ft lbs. I'll run it tomorrow to see if it runs better without leaking and hopefully it won't be as loud.

G'day Jethro - The bike looks fantastic. Those mufflers look great and a very cost-effective alternative to those expensive replicas. I'm really interested in those flat bars - I'm planning to do the same, as well as fitting a set of indicators in there somewhere. Looks like you still have the original switch gear and throttle, so I guess you have a bar with machined slot for the throttle slide? It looks like it is difficult to get the cables lined up with the frame entry holes and as a result you've had to rotate the controls on the bar - is that correct? Any thoughts on remedying that?

Hey Muddy, welcome to the forum!
The bars are drag bars from JCWhitney, around $20. I had to drill the holes for wires and throttle cable exit. The throttle slide slot, I had to cut. I used a dremel tool and a 90 degree die grinder with a cutoff wheel. I was actually impressed with the way it turned out. I thought it would be pretty rough but it works great. The cables all work just fine and I didn't have to do anything to get them to fit. Only thing is, these flat bars require the cables that are strait. Not the ones that have the chrome arc on the bar end of them. The excess length of cable can simply be tucked away inside the frame.
