The bike picture above (with reverse cone meggas) is the parts bike I got with my main project. That bike is a little later than the main bike with a later frame number and 1962 on the wire harness. That bike had been messed around with quite a lot so it doesn't surprise me that it has some odd parts.
The main bike, which I stripped down yesterday is like opening a time capsule. The drive chain and sprockets look like new and the generator looks like it has just been fitted. I'm intrigued that its says 61 - 12 on the wire harness but has '62 engine and frame. Did they do like the Brits and build 'next years model' from the summer of the previous year?
I cannot wait to get inside the engine. I suspect that the bike has done less than 5000 miles before it was laid up.
