Yep, that's the way I have it on the inside...

Maybe - just maybe - it's not shifting all the way through is because I don't have enough 'oomph' just trying to shift it by hand? The engine's still out of the case on the bench, so maybe putting it back in the frame and using my body weight would make a difference...??

Yeah, that's a pretty fugly engine you have there, G...! What's the story on That??

Although I do have some pics of a CA95 I did that are Incredible...one of the cylinders had what looked like a CAKE of rust/crap in it when I opened it up...it'd be fun to start a Tales From the Crypt section or something...:)

Yes a bit more force and some 'wiggling' might work.

The CB77 was one of my first projects and the engine internals were junk. There was water damage everywhere, a shift fork was broken and I had to smash a liner/piston to get the barrel. The crank was rusted solid.

The rest of the bike, although it didn't look nice, was OK. It's another long-term project but could be running this year if I get a move on.

Oooh! Dual carbs - both a blessing And a curse! :) A nice starting point, though. I love working on stuff like that...you should see the pics of the CA95 I reworked...

What's the big knob on the case? Oil?

Speaking of which, I have to ask - and I know its a Sticky - but every time I try to post pics in the body of my post following the Sticky instructions, it won't let me do it...is there a simple way to select pics right from the computer pics file, or do they all have to have a URL? How do *you do this?

The knob is a spring-loaded catch to hold the 'valley cover'.....

Those twin carbs were put on the wrong sides so all the adjusters were in the middle rather than the outside.....

I host my pictures on flickr.com There is an option to share each picture .

Click on the right curving arrow at the bottom right....

This menu pops up. Select the BBcode option and copy the text below. I use a horizontal size of 800 pixels.

Then post the text into your post and hey presto.

I will try that, thanks!

But before I get to loading pics, a quick question (that I'm afraid I know the answer to already):

I found a hairline crack in the bottom of the right-hand cylinder. Didn't even see it until I was going over stuff and cleaning it. I am afraid that is the kiss of death for my lower cylinder head, yes...? I mean, unless I get another one...Somewhere...or re-sleeve it.

Sure, it's up to me if I want to go through all this and put a cracked cylinder back into the engine...I mean, What Could Happen, Right?? ;)

The thing is, I don't know if *I did it, or if it was already there...but it's cracked. It's a very *Fine crack, but I can feel it with my fingernail...so I guess my lower cylinder is now toast, would you say?

Whooo-Hooo, it worked!

My crack truly looks a lot bigger here than it does in real life, for some reason...

(Yes, it Is funny....! God, I'm such a juvenile...:)
