parts value?parts value?Hi, new to this site, and new to ca77's. got one last week after lusting for one for years. Anyway, i'm trying to get it running, so I need to raise some money for parts. I'm not looking to have an all original show bike, I just want it to run well, and be as reliable as a 40 yr old bike can be.
Here's the question. how much do you think i could get for the seat? the cover isn't great, but the pan looks good besides a spot of surface rust. it also came with shoei hardbags. the bags themselves are in good shape besides a little surface rust on the locks and hinges. The brackets have quite a bit of surface rust on the chrome and some deeper rust on the metal parts that fasten the brackets to the bike. and lastly, reading over old post, I get the idea that the sock exhaust is of value. I believe mine are original and are in decent shape. the header pipes, are deeply rusted, but the mufflers are fine besides surface rust on the chrome. any opinions on the worth of these items are welcome. If there not worth much, I'll just forget the idea, and set the bike aside until i have some extra cash. parts valueHi I-man. It's tough to tell without pics. Even then you can only guess. Watch ebay for a few weeks and see what parts similar to yours go for. Then it depends on how many people are looking for the same part at the same time. A nice bidding war always helps to elevate the value.
Dream parts are a pretty easy sell unless they are totally trashed. Good luck, Mike 66 Dream
78 Goldwing parts valueYour welcome I-man.
You still have a good idea about selling your parts on e-bay to fund the fix-up of your bike. I did the same thing with both my Dreams. I sold all of the left over, useable parts I had and even got into buying and re-selling Dream parts on e-bay to fund my hobby. If you aren't worried about how much you get for your parts, start them out at a low price, auction. You'll be suprised at how much parts can go for. Mike 66 Dream
78 Goldwing ok mike, now you got me rethinking it! I'm sending one of our 305 brothers pics of the shoei bags. I think I'll keep the seat, ( I was going to go with an after market solo seat)my wife seemed disappointed that I wasn't going to be able to take her for a ride. So maybe just the exhaust, if our fellow member doesn't buy the bags. Thanks for the feed back Mike.
