honda dream rookie

Post by Davo » Sun Aug 02, 2009 10:48 am

First of all Thanks to all the posters on this site, Lots of great information I've already learned alot. This all started about a year ago while looking for a scooter I discovered the Honda dream and that was it for me. Got the green light from the Mrs. so the search began, So for about 10 anixous months I worked craigslist and e-bay and finally found what I hope was a good deal. After a three hour drive and an unexpected second bike purchase I made it home with my new 1969 CA77 and the surprise 1965 CA78 both titled for $800 I really did not want two bikes but thought I may need the extra parts. the 1969 turns over and has compression and the 1965 feels locked up but not sure yet. I have purchased bill silvers CD and I have started breaking the bikes down just to see what I'm up against, some surprises, leaky gas tank, bad petcocks and lots of dirt and rust but not discouraged yet !! now for some questions, has anyone had any luck with replacing the back fender ? are most of the parts interchangable between the bikes ? Where do I start ? Once again thanks to everyone here I'll take whatever advise anyone has to offer. I will post pictures once i figure out how to do it. How do you post pics? thanks Davo

Two ways to post photos that I've used:

i) use the 'Add Attachment' feature in the 'Reply' section (your photo shouldn't be too huge for that application -- 200k or less -- and should be a jpeg);

ii) upload your photos to Photobucket, Flickr, or a similar photo management site ('basic' membership is usually free on these sites). Then 'copy' the IMG Code of the photo, then 'paste' it into the body of the reply message. The photo should also be a jpeg, and 200k should be plenty.

Hope that helps!

Hi Davo, I replaced the rear fender on my ca77.
Remove the seat ,the rear shocks and aluminum fender struts.
Drill out the spot welds (there are many) at the rear fender section until it comes apart.
I used small nuts and bolts to attach the new fender section.

Davo, No I don't have a solo seat.
All of the nuts and bolts will be hidden under the fender struts and the seat, if you use the original seat.
