Muffler suggestions? Yes, I am brand new, so bear with me..

Post by Steady Teddy » Fri Sep 11, 2009 1:09 am

Hi all. I am brand spanking new to this group, and must admit that at heart, I am a diehard Vespa & Lambretta fan through and through. Owned a ton of them, restored a few, love anything on two wheels for the most part. However, I have also been a particularly huge fan of 1960s Hondas for as long as I can remember. Just now, I am buying my 1st CA77, circa 1967. Bike is pretty much a nut and bolt restoration, but the mufflers are not OG. Any suggestions on where I can pick up a pair... other than eBay and not pay a small fortune? I am sure the answer is somewhere on the site, but I have not found it thus far, so I figured I'd ask. I have included a pic of the new addition. Thanks in advance to any and all who chime in!

You could try here.http://www.classichondarestoration.com/ ... _Parts.php
I met the guy at Mid-Ohio and he had samples. I'm not sure that he has productions available yet but it might be worth a shot. The samples looked like good quality.

Thanks for the props on the bike!

I sent an email to Classic Honda Restoration about those mufflers. Hopefully he'll get back to me with info... thanks for the referral!

How about a correct era specific battery replacement? Is that any easier to locate??

Thanks again!

You're welcome. I have the exact same bike, although not the exact same shape I'm afraid. For your battery, if you have the large battery tray then here is the battery that is correct for your Dream. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-OLD- ... ccessories Don't bother trying to find it at motorcycle shops, parts dealers or battery specialists. They will all refer you to the smaller battery (12n93a) and insist that it is the correct one because their books/computers say so. Wrong! Check your v.i.n. and refer to a restoration manual. I believe early 65 Dream's and older had this battery (see the flea bay tag above) and later dreams had the 12n93a. Good luck. J. P.S. I just re-read your post about the year you say your bike is. If you post the frame V.I.N. somebody will tell you what you need.
