Adapting a dual carburated head to a dream.

Post by Jethro » Sun May 23, 2010 9:57 am

Happy spring time everyone. So I came across a complete CL77 top end (carbs, cam, head and all). I am thinking about adapting this head to my Dream project. The only concern I have at this point is that the carbs will interfere with the frame. If I do this I will have to make some sort of angled spacer that will put the carbs out to the side of the frame. Has anyone tried this? If so, what was your experience?

Sounds interesting.
Don't remember any posts, but surely somebody has done it (or tried) before, sometime.
Silvers manual mentions swapping cams, valve springs, and pistons from a CB or CL to increase performance in a Dream, but I don't remember seeing anything about complete head swap.
You would need to rotate 1/2 of the CL cam 90 degrees for correct valve timing if you use it due to the crank differences.
Try it and let us know how it goes.
