Hello...

First, let me apologize for posting my "Want" here if it's considered improper. I did look thru the Marketplace and Classified Ads.

I owned a '65 CA77 in 1973 (when I was but a youth) and of course sold it in pursuit of something bigger, badder, and faster. I gave up the motorcycle driving about 10 years ago because I noticed I was losing that "6th Sense" I had developed over 35 years of driving, and the reflexes just weren't as sharp as they used to be. I took that as a omen and moved back into 4 wheels as the hobby ride. Even tho I have had many other motorcycles and sports cars over all these years, the 305 Dream Touring has remained the one that still gives me that "Warm and Fuzzy" feeling. I always have been and still am a biker at heart so I want to buy one final ride, and it's going to be a Dream.

I'm looking for one that is not necessarily Restored, but at least solidly Refreshed. One that someone has given a lot of TLC to, is a good reliable ride, and now wants to pass on so the TLC will continue (which it will). Normal maintenance is expected, but I do not want to get into Rebuilding/Restoring.... been there.. done that. I want something that I can count on to take out for a nice ride and will get me home safely at night. I'm turning 60 shortly so I probably won't have too many years to ride it, but at least I'll be able to still go out to the garage and reminisce.

I live in St.Paul MN. I figure I'm good to drive it home about 200 miles (my back ain't what it used to be), so if you live within 200 miles and have one that you have been thinking about passing along, shoot me over a note with the details. Mechanical/Electrical condition is the primary concern, looks are important too, but if it's showing it's age.... well so am I so we should get along just fine :-)

Again.. Sorry if this posting is considered improper.

George

Welcome to the forum. Don't see anything at all wrong with your post.
If you find a member here willing to part with a bike then my bet is your chances of finding a decent one are greately improved.
If not, you can find one on ebay fairly regularly for a reasonable price if you watch for them.
Good luck on your search. I found one 1/2 mile away from my house I didn't have a clue was even there.

Yes, this is what I was hoping for. I have been watching ebay and Craigslist but the ones that sound like what what I am looking for are always 1000+ miles away, and I really want to see it and talk to the owner before I buy something. I know there have been times when I see someone asking for something and I end up selling them mine when I never really was planning to sell it. I just thought there might be someone on the list that has rebuilt his/her Dream and is now looking to move on to another adventure.

tnx

George

a wet Dream I found the other day a mere mile away

Post by Wet Dream » Mon Jun 21, 2010 5:25 am

Hi folks, this is my first post.. as I only recently turned my focus back 46 years to my Youth and got me a 1964 305 Dream from a neighbor, who ,as most people do now, had it posted on " Craig's" list.com each city has its own listings.
I saw the Price differences out there and hopped to it . I paid $750 cash and had that White Motorbike home in a mere Hour.
My family's Dream legacy began with these when they first arrived here in Hollywood at (Bill Robertson Honda) Bill it seems had a Car contract ,but all that was shipped here were the Dreams.
My Dad " Louis W Pittman was a salesman there, and he had first dibs on all the fun. A typical horror story of a new rider was that he didn't rev the engine high enough. .
No helmet no shoes no shirt. those were the days EH my two brothers and I agree that these Drams hold a place deep in or psyche as our first "real" wheels, and we do love them first and foremost as they got us all over Hollywood and back
Clue:I found a 1964 CA 78 305cc in "A" "OK" shape, not a barn find, but a real working motorcycle for a fourth of what they sell for running.
I do have the frozen screw situation stopping me from inspecting the points right now and may need to drill the heads off..but that could get solved another way with some deep concentration. I have familiarized myself with the "China Doll" two strokes so popular these days, and see that a bit of torque applied laterally can turn these impossible odds back in to easy does it.
the moral of the story is: If you want a "Wet Dream" cheap get it on Craig'sList at Craig's list.com they have cornered the market on freaky things
I could just as easily have a Chris Craft mahogony wood Ski Boat fettish and get my FIX by searching it on Craig'slist.com I've proved it a million times. there are even Free Items that boggle the imagination good hunting guys
foot Note I am so happy to be a newbie on this Elite site and read and read the do's and don'ts before touching the Wet Dreams electrical He He

Congratulations on your find and your Craigslist suggestion (if it was in reply to my post), but I have been watching Craigslist and ebay for some time now as well as searches of other sights here on the Internet. I will keep watching and searching. There -is- someone out there close by that -will- sell me their Dream..... They just don't know it yet :-)

tnx

Hi George-

I don't know how far you're willing/able to travel, but there's a site called Search Tempest ( www.searchtempest.com ) that allows you to search Craig's List by proximity to your home. For instance, you could do a search for Honda Dream in For Sale/ Motorcycles and set it to look for cities as little as 25 miles from your home or as much as 300 miles.
Check it out, and good luck! I searched on eBay for several months before I found the bike I wanted and still had to have it shipped over 400 miles!

A quick browse of Search Tempest yields a '64 in Duluth, a '60 in Prior Lake, a '66 in Elk River and a kinda rough '64 Benly in Fargo!

Again, good luck, George- happy riding!
